King and Catalano named Loranger Sports Athletes of the Year for 2011-12.
Two-sport athletes pace successful year in boys’ sports.
LORANGER—Jonathan King and Brennan Catalano were name the 2011-12 Loranger Sports Athletes of the Year. The senior pair of two-sport
performers helped lead the Wolves to one of their most successful years in boys’ athletic competition.
King, known as “Pretty” by his teammates, earned first team LSWA Class 3A All-State honors as a
two-way football standout collecting 45 catches for 985 yards and 11 touchdowns as a receiver and playing the other side of the ball at defensive back.
A First Team All-District selection in basketball, King led Loranger to their first post-season bid in over a decade. King was selected
to play in the annual Bayou Bowl, an annual non-profit all-star high school football game between the top graduating seniors from Louisiana and the Greater Houston area, this past June.
Catalano, who carried the nickname “Cat” earned LSWA Class 3A All-State honors in football for the second year in a row. The
senior linebacker led the Wolves in tackles for four straight years as he and King helped pace a 10-2 record and a Regional Round playoff appearance.
Catalano was outstanding on the baseball diamond as well rolling up a 10-1 record on the mound as he led the Wolves to the State Semi-Finals and
collected First Team LSWA Class 3A All-State honors for his efforts. Catalano signed a baseball scholarship with Southeastern Louisiana University.
The Loranger Sports Athletes of the Year is recognition given to Loranger High School seniors. Both male and female athletes are
eligible
for the award.
