Wolves earn nine first team all-district selections.
Kyle Wheeler name District MVP. Shea Edwards, Blake Bradley, and Nick Bihm earn
second team honors.
LORANGER—The Loranger Wolves, who notched a perfect 10-0 mark in league play, racked up nine
first team selections and the most valuable player award at the recent 10-3A All-District Selection
Meeting. Along with placing nine players on the first team, Kyle “Wheels” Wheeler was voted the
district’s Most Valuable Player. The junior catcher collected 23 RBI’s and four home runs in
district play and was stellar at the plate on defense.
“We made progress this year winning more games than last year and
advancing in the playoffs,” said Loranger head coach Jason Helmsetter. “We are not satisfied
and look forward to being better in 2009. However, right now it is important to honor the hard
work of all our guys this year and thank our seniors for their leadership and for paving the way for
hopefully even more success next year.”
Eight other Wolves received first team honors. Senior Brandon
Robicheaux and junior Brice Himel got the nod as pitchers, while Kyle Wheeler made
first team as catcher. The entire starting outfield for the Wolves including senior
Kyle Wagner and juniors Zach Serigny and Jake Artigue earned first team spots.
Senior Josh DePhillips earned the honor at second base, and Taylor Abdalla was named first team short stop.
Seniors Blake Bradley and Nick Bihm were named to the second team as
DH and outfielder respectively. Junior Shea Edwards joinded the second team as a pitcher.
The Wolves, who finished their season on Tuesday, will meet for
their annual banquet later this month. The date and time will be announced at a later time.
