Loranger’s Cassandra Tate competes in the 41st AAU Junior Olympic Games.
KNOXVILLE, TN—Loranger’s Cassandra Tate competed in the 41st Annual National
Junior Olympic Games held at the University of Tennessee August over July 25 through
August 4. Tate, a three-time Louisiana State Champion back in May, competed in the
top age group (17-18). She finished 15th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of
15.12, 19th in the 100 meters with a time of 12.59 and 23rd in the 200 meters with a time of 25.31.
Tate is expected to defend her state titles when she returns
to Loranger for her final year. “She is a special athlete with a lot of talent. We
all expect great things from her in her senior year,” said Loranger Women’s Track
Coach Sam Messina.

NEW ORLEANS—Loranger’s own Cassandra Tate, a three-time state
champion at this year’s state track
meet, has qualified for the AAU Junior
Olympic Games set for July 25 through August 4 in Knoxville, TN.
The qualifying meet was held a Tad Gormley Stadium June 15-17 in New Orleans, LA.
Cassandra qualified in the 100 meters with a time
of 12:11, the 200 meters with a time of 25:09, and the 100 meter hurdles with
a time of 14:56. Currently she is ranked 30th in the nation in the 100
meters, 38th in the 200 meters, and 8th in the 100 meters hurdles.
At the 3A/4A/5A State Farm/LHSAA State Outdoor Track
and Field Meet hosted at LSU this past May she swept the 100 meter hurdles
and the 100 and 200 meter sprints and was named the Girls’ Track MVP.

success at the Junior Olympics.
