started fast and finished off the Bulldogs quickly scoring all 34 of their points in the first half and cruised to victory in the final two quarters. The win improved Loranger’s season mark to 4-1.
“We did not play last week with an open date so it was good to get back on the field and go to work,” said LMS head coach David Knight. “We gave up one big play, but the guys responded well overall, and it was good to see our quarterback back in action after he had been out for a while.”
Loranger took the opening kickoff and marched the distance scoring in less than three minutes as Jason Albaral scored from two yards out giving the Wolves a 6-0 lead with 5:40 showing.
The Loranger defense forced a quick three-and-out on the ensuing Springfield drive and needed only three plays to pad their lead as Michael Bonds scored the first of his two touchdowns racing 31 yards for the score. Bonds added the two-point conversion and the Wolves led 14-0 with 1:25 left in the first.
Springfield’s Damariae Claiborne interrupted the Loranger celebration returning the ensuing kickoff 75 yards to cut the Wolves advantage to 14-6, but the rally would end quickly as Loranger’s defense pitched a shutout the rest of the way and the Wolves tacked on another 20 points before halftime.
Albaral ripped off a 17-yard run on the Wolves next drive and two plays later Bonds slipped around the right side to sprint 34-yards for a touchdown. The PAT failed, but Loranger led 20-6 with one second left in the first quarter.
The Loranger defense forced a fourth and 37 yards to go on Springfield’s next possession and the Loranger offense responded marching 54 yards in just three plays. This time Albaral did the honors notching his second score from 19 yards out giving the Wolves a commanding 26-6 advantage with 4:02 showing in the second.
Albaral showed he could play both ways intercepting a Springfield pass on their ensuing possession setting up Loranger’s final score. Wolves’ signal caller Clay Terrebonne wasted no time using just two plays. Terrebonne tossed a nine-yard pass to Carter LeBlanc on first down and then ran the rest of the way on second down scoring on a 39-yard dash. Albaral added the two-point conversion and the Wolves took a 34-6 lead with 1:25 left before intermission.
Loranger is on the road next week as they travel to Walker High School to play North Corbin.

LORANGER—The Loranger Middle School Wolves kicked off the home football season with a 30-6 romp over the visiting Independence Tigers. The Wolves scored on four of their six possessions racking up 243 yards offense, while limiting the Tigers to just 41 yards total offense.
“Independence is one of our big rivals so we always get fired up to play them,” said Loranger Middle School head coach David Knight. “The effort was definitely there. We were able to score on four of our six possessions and except for a busted play by them that they were able to turn into a big play, our defense did a good job.”
Loranger started fast scoring on their first possession when Hunter Flanagan hit Carter LeBlanc for 31 yards for a touchdown. Michael Bonds slipped around the left side for two more giving the Wolves an 8-0 advantage with 5:01 showing in the first. The drive covered 58 yards on eight plays with Austin Edens rushing twice for 10 yard picking up a key first down to keep the drive alive.
The Tigers answered on their next possession as Damion Morgan turned a broken play into a 47-yard touchdown run. The try for two failed, however, leaving Loranger with an 8-6 lead with 3:58 left.
The Wolves responded taking their ensuing possession 69 yards in ten plays scoring on a seven-yard dash by Bonds. Bonds did the honors again on the two-point conversion giving Loranger a 16-6 lead.
Special teams created a turnover on the ensuing kickoff as Justin Callahan recovered and onsides kick setting the Wolves up at the Independence 44. The Tigers defense stiffened and forced a punt. Loranger returned the favor forcing a quick three and out and Jeremiah Baham returned the Tiger punt 27 yards to the Independence 18 setting up the Wolves next score.
Loranger had to score twice to make the points stick as an 18-yard run on the first play of the drive was called back on a holding penalty. Jason Albaral ran for nine yards and caught a seven-yard pass from Flanagan to set up the second touchdown that counted as Bonds scored from two yards out on fourth down to pad the Wolves lead to 22-6.
The Wolves burned up some clock in the third quarter stretching their first possession of the period into the fourth quarter as they went on a 55-yard march in seventeen plays overcoming several penalties before Bonds dove into the end zone from two yards out. Flanagan added the two-point conversion to give Loranger a commanding 30-6 advantage with less the four minutes remaining.
