iLEAP and GEE 21 TESTING 2006-07
FRESHMAN YEAR – Freshmen students take the iLEAP (new this year; is combination of LEAP and IOWA). This test is administered during the spring semester in coordination with the Graduate Exit
Examinations (GEE).

SOPHMORE YEAR – Sophomore students begin their GEE by taking the English and mathematics portions. These tests are administered during the spring semester, and a student must pass both portions to be eligible for graduation. LEAP remediation is available during the regular school year and during the summer for any student who does not pass the GEE test. Several opportunities for retakes are available.
Sophomore students also take the *PLAN (a pre-ACT) test. The state provides this opportunity. This test is a reliable predictor of how a student will do on the **ACT.

JUNIOR YEAR – Junior students must take the science and social studies portion of the GEE and must pass one portion. This test is administered during the spring semester.
Junior students also have the opportunity to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). This test is administered by the military but provides valuable information to students even if they are not interested in the military. This test is usually administered during the fall semester. Students must sign up with the counselor for this test.
Junior students who plan to attend college should begin taking the ACT (testing dates and applications are available in the counselor’s office). Some universities require the SAT. Students should check with their university of choice to see which test is required or recommended.

Any senior who has not passed all the required portions of the GEE will have an opportunity for retakes during the fall and spring semester.
The ACT can also be retaken to improve scores for scholarships and TOPS.
