Wolves came up short in the championship game of the Travis Porter Classic losing 5-1.
The Wolves’ bats went mostly silent as Cardinal left-handed Matt Reichenau struck out seven
scattered two hits and gave up on home run in route to a 5-1 win. Bell Chase claimed the
trophy going 3-0 in the round robin tournament.
A dropped fly ball in center field produced the first Belle Chase
base-runner with one out in the top of the first. After a second strike out delivered
by Abdalla, Kyle Denny delivered a two-run blast over the left field fence to give the Cardinals an early 2-0.
For Loranger Josh DePhillips gave the Wolves their only offensive outburst
hitting a single and a double. Abdalla struck out five and left in top of the fourth with a
sore arm. Shea Edwards came in relief forcing a ground ball for a double play
while giving up a pair of runs on two hits and a walk. Kyle Wagner finished up for the Wolves striking out one and
giving up one hit.
